Trainer’s Profile. He is a member of Technical Committee 2 (TC2) of the Electro-Technical Council of Ireland (ETCI) whose primary task is the publication of the National Rules for Electrical Installations in Ireland and is also a committee member of the Chartered.
Amendment No. 2.2 of the ETCI National Rules for Electrical Installations, ET101:2008 comes into effect from the 5th of September 2017. This update to the Wiring Rules will see the phasing out of traditional flat PVC/PVC cable with bare earth and its replacement by cable with an insulated earth conductor of the same cross section as the supply cable. The cable now specified is to be in accordance with I.S.
201-4 which was published in 2013. The significant change is driven by the adoption of this standard for cable by the amendment to ET101.
Overview The Electro-Technical Council of Ireland (ETCI) publishes the National Rules for Electrical Installations ET101:2008 Fourth Edition. The fourth edition is now mandatory in respect of nearly all electrical installations in Ireland. The introduction of the National Rules for Electrical Installations (ETCI rules) Fourth Edition ET101:2008 compounded with the requirements of recent Health and Safety Legislation has created an increased impetus on Electrical Engineers, Engineering Managers and Registered Electrical Contractors to be cognisant and confident in all aspects of Electrical Safety.
This 2-day training course will provide participants with a review of the scope and application of the ETCI rules and through the application of specific electrical engineering problems; participants will be introduced to a core range of design criteria. Course Aim To enable delegates to fully understand the ETCI Rules, 4th Edition (ET101:2008) with integral aspects of electrical engineering ranging from an appreciation of health and safety legislative requirements to practically implementing engineering solutions underpinned by the scope and breadth of the ETCI rules.
